Rare Candlestick Telephone Glass Candy Container with Glass Ear Piece

This is an unusual version of the glass candlestick telephone candy container. It has a glass ear piece and there is no dial like most of the candy containers have. I mostly ear pieces that are made of wood. The telephone has some gold paint at the top which is still there and in good condition. The ear piece is hung on a sturdy wire that is shaped to go around the top of the phone and protrudes out to hold the ear piece. Their is an early string that goes from the phone to the ear piece. Both the wire and string are original to the candy container. There is a gold finish tin base that screws onto the glass. I have never tried to remove it.

Everything seems to be in good condition for the age with no chips or cracks, no paint loss and all original parts. It is 5" tall with a 2" diameter base. This would probably date to the early to mid 1900s.

The earliest real candlestick telephones had no dials and you would just pick up the ear piece and that brought you to the operator. Sometimes you would have to click the holder a few times to get her attention. You would then just ask for the person you wanted to speak to. I guess she was like the original "Siri" now used on the new high tech phones. Since this design does not include a molded dial, I would think that this dates between the 1920s and 30s.
