For sale is the 1936 edition of the softcover pre primer, Dick and Jane. These Elson Gray readers preceded the Scott Foresman pre primers, We Look And See, etc, that began publication in 1940. This early edition has Sally too but she was called Baby until 1940. The book has a mimeographed sheet stapled inside the front cover that introduces the book so I'm guessing this copy was a salesman's sample. It measures 7 1/4 by 5 1/4 inches and contains 40 pages. The cloth binding is wearing but the book is firmly together and the top front edge bends down slightly. The inside pages are in excellent condition; a few have light climatic smudges. They're all here - including Spot and Mew (later to be named Puff), Mother, Father, and Grandmother! This very special book is quite a find in this condition and would make an excellent addition to a collection.
