Antique English glass oil lamp by John Walsh Walsh C:1884 Catherine Thuro Collection

Offered is this rare English glass oil lamp made by John Walsh Walsh of Birmingham, between 1883 and 1885. The oil lamp is 9 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide. There is a heat-check in the making, typical of applied glass rigarees, handles, etc - otherwise, it is in very good condition (the heat-check cannot be felt with the fingertips - see 6th picture). The burner is marked, 'Hinks & Sons Patent' (see 4th picture). There is a colorless applied prunt on the bottom. It is from Catherine M.V. Thuro's private collection (see 7th picture) and is shown on page 136 of her book, 'Oil Lamps II - glass kerosene lamps' (shown in last two pictures here for your convenience).
