Loetz Phanomen Glass Iridescent Lamp Shade by Hofstotter C:1903

This is an intensely iridescent, glass shade, made by Loetz around 1903. As were typical of Loetz products, the shade is unsigned, but it is guaranteed to have been made by Loetz. This shade-shape is shown on page 342 in the catalog of cut-out paper patterns of Ricke, Ploil & Mergl's book, 'Loetz - Bohemian Glass 1880-1940'. The Form/Shape of the shade is: 1090/65. The colorful, iridescent, columnar, dumb-bell-like application on the shade was typical of the decoration of Franz Hofstotter (refer to the Hofstotter-decorated vases shown in pages 92, 114 & 115 of the same book). Though I am not sure of the exact Phanomen genre of the decoration on this shade (in my opinion, it most closely resembles Phanomen genre 1/158), I think the shade was decorated by Hofstotter - arguably, one of the most famous of all artists at Loetz. The shade is 5 3/4 inches (14,5 cm) tall and 6 inches (15 cm) wide at its widest. The shade's fitter end has an outer diameter of 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) and an inner diameter of 2 5/8 inches (6,7 cm). As are typical of these old shades, there are a few tiny flakes on the fitter rim where screws were used to hold it in place on the lamp (see picture) - otherwise, it is in excellent condition.
