Tortoise Shell Cigar Box with Mother of Pearl Inlay, circa 1840s

This is a beautiful tortoise shell cigar box, made in the 1840s. It has gorgeous white mother of pearl inlay depicting a wonderful array of flowers on a twisted silver vine. There are some stress cracks in the surface of the tortoise shell, which probably resulted from a previous owner neglecting to oil it. But it is in very good condition, otherwise. This box can be used to hold cigars or any other small items.

It measures 5" x 2 1/8" x 1 1/8". There is a cartouche on the top of the lid with "WN" engraved on it.
