This is a beautiful gold aurene glass bud vase, made around 1915 by Steuben. It has a stunning iridescence with pink, gold, blue, and green highlights. It has a dimpled form to the lower body and a gourd-shaped neck. The thin mouth of the vase is meant to hold a single flower bud. A truly gorgeous piece! Although not signed this shape is in Gardner's book, on page 247, there is a line drawing for #225 and this is the shape of that piece also on page 352 is a photograph of a similar piece. Early Carder gold aurene was less fully robust and glowing than the later production, this is of the earlier, more muted variety.
This vase measures 5 1/4" x 3 1/4". It is very good condition, but there are a few surface scratches on the bottom (see photos).
