Marshall Field & Co. Hand-Hammered Sterling Silver Serving Spoon with Hand-Wrought Flowers

This is a gorgeous sterling silver serving spoon, made by Marshall Field & Co. during the Arts and Crafts movement. It has a beautiful hand-hammered surface and lovely hand-wrought flowers and branches on the handle. Marshall Field & Co. (Chicago, IL) were a well-known department store that operated a craft shop from 1903 through the late 1940s. The hand-wrought items that were created there became very popular, and the Craft Shop became a training ground for many Arts and Crafts silversmiths who would later gain fame on their own.

This is quite a substantial serving spoon, measuring 10 3/8" x 2 1/4". It weighs 107 grams, or 3.88 Troy ounces. It is marked "MARSHALL FIELD & Co.", "STERLING" and "4306." It is in very good condition and there are no monograms on this piece.
