Pair of Whiting Sterling Silver Serving Spoons in the Arabesque Pattern, circa 1875

This is a beautiful pair of sterling silver serving spoons, patented in the Arabesque pattern by Whiting in 1875. The Arabesque pattern displays a winged griffin reaching down the handle, surrounded by scrolling vines

Each of these spoons measures 8 1/4" x 1 3/4". Their combined weight is 127.5 grams, or 4.2 Troy ounces. They are in excellent condition and the pattern is still crisp and clear. They are both marked "BAILEY BANKS & BIDDLE" and "PAT. 1875 STERLING" with the Whiting maker's mark. There is an "M" monogram engraved on both handles.
