Dutch Silver (833) Scenic Spice Box from 1934
This is an beautifully crafted Sterling Silver Dutch Spice Box. The detail is amazing and it seems to contain a whole country life on it. It is decorated with Rocco scrolls that contain a scene from farm life. It has a girl carrying milk buckets with a cow and lamb beside her. In the background is a farm house and wind mill. On the sides an old man walks down a road and you can see the girl milking the cow. These images repeat themselves around the piece. The Hallmarks are carefully placed in the scenes. There is a lion and a Minerva head and the letter z marking the year as 1934. On the bottom there is the makers mark HH and on the top the lion marking the piece as silver. It weights 5 troy oz and is 3 1/8" tall x 3 1/8" wide x 2" in depth.
