This is a beautiful hand chased and repousse waste bowl by Whiting. It is a small bowl with an inverted lip with and an all over floral repoussé pattern. The bottom portion is covered a repeating motif of leaves. The middle section is a floral and foliate border with delicate stipple work. The top part of the rim has a repeating scalloped pattern. It is in excellent condition with one small dent to the rim as pictured. Made by Whiting Manufacturing Company, New York, New York, circa 1880. It is a lovely example of their amazing repousse work. Marks: (griffin with W) STERLING, 496A 4 3/8" in diameter by 2-1/2" high (6.4 cm). 3.2 troy ounces
