This mythical Art Nouveau sterling silver pattern is called Douvaine. These soup spoons are from the Unger Bros circa 1890. They are decorated with dolphins and the face of Neptune. They are 7 1/4" long and weight 1.7 troy oz each. The back of these spoons have the Unger Bros Mark and sterling silver. These place soup spoons are in excellent condition the pattern being crisp and clear. The Unger Brothers became one of the premier and most well-know American manufacturers of sterling silver jewelry and objects. Born to a family that immigrated from Germany, the Unger Brothers established their business in Newark, NJ and began producing sterling silver jewelry in 1878. It has the Unger Bros Trade Mark with an interlaced U & B in a circle with Sterling above and 925 Fine ( for the Sterling Content which is 925 / 1000 ). This Firm began making Art Nouveau Patterns of Flatware in the 1880's.
