Peter Krider Coin Silver Vine & Grape Creamer

This is a stunning Coin Silver Peter Krider vasiform cream pitcher with repoussé grape and leaf decoration. It has a circular footed base with chased grape and vine decoration to the body. The handle is intertwined with the grape vine and monogrammed to the front ABW and dates to around 1875. Originally from Philadelphia, Peter Krider apprenticed with John Curry and R. & W. Wilson. He later was a journeyman for Obadiah Rich, one of Boston's leading silversmith. In Philadelphia after starting his own shop in the 1850's he became one of Philadelphia's most important silversmiths. Marks: (lion-k-crown) PETER L. KRIDER Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 4 inches high 4.8 ounces troy.
