Vintage Al Hirschfeld ~ Feiden Galleries Collector's Plate
This large, decorative, porcelain plate was produced by Bloomingdale's, in agreement with Margo Feiden Galleries of New York.
It measures 12.25" in diameter and is trimmed in gold. It is in excellent condition, without chips, cracks or other damage.
It features a lady in vintage couture, and we are not sure who the subject is supposed to be. (Al Hirschfeld is known for his caricatures of celebrities and was frequently published in the New York Times.)
We found this collectible (and another Hirschfeld plate which is also listed for sale in our shop) at a local consignment shop. The employee wasn't able to provide information regarding its history, except that it was taken from a local estate.
We immediately fell in love with it ~ the striking, black and white design and its artistic whimsy. The design was taken from a reputable Al Hirschfeld drawing and it was produced by Bloomingdale's.
We are uncertain as to its production era and we couldn't find any information online. We estimate this piece to be from the 1970-90s era, and if any dealer has information on this beautiful plate, please let us know.
This is a fabulous display for collectors of the famous Al Hirschfeld. It would look splendid in a vintage clothing shop!
