This is a fine quality clock. The 8 day movement is by S.Marti et Cie of Rue-Du-Temple, Paris France c1875. Movement strikes on the hour and 1/2 hour on a saucer bell. Attractive flower basket pendulum. The clock face is white enamel, with elegant Arabic hour numerals and delicate painted swags of miniature flowers caught up in ribbons. The outer minute ring is marked off for all of the minutes, with a numeral at each 5 minute interval. Hands are fine, gilded and fretted. The enamel is in good condition, but I point out the smallest of blemishes at the very bottom beneath the 30 minute numeral. There is also a name on the front, I would think the retailer, it is hard to read, but looks like Th Gautier. The case is marble and ormolu/Dore bronze. The marble platform at the base is a very pale cream to white, no veining. The mounts are fine, quality casting. The gilding is all in excellent condition, my opinion is that it has been at least partially re-gilded at some time. As there are wonderful gilded mounts on the front door, and the sides, this clock would benefit from being viewed from the sides as well as the front. The movement has been cleaned and is in good working order. The clock stands approx. 17" high, 8" wide and 7" deep
