We are proud to offer an original oil on board by Master Painter James Butler (b. 1925). He is a very important New Mexico artist. The sight size of the painting is 24" X 36" and the frame measures 32" X 44". It is signed Butler LL. It is in original & excellent condition. On bottom edge are slight scuffs (beneath the signature), and on lower right edge is a spot where a small nail went through the back. See photos. These small dings are barely noticeable. This hand-carved frame has scuffs from age but it is in overall very good condition for being quite old. This beautiful painting is very heavy, between board & frame, and this will cost more for shipping. The subject is a Native American man resting against a fence pole. On the fence is an Indian saddle and a colorful Indian blanket. Near-by is a Native American clay oven. In the background are Pueblos and a blue wagon framed by trees with yellow blossoms. Mountains and blue sky with with drifting clouds are at top of painting. This is an amazing painting and a masterpiece by James Butler. It would probably date to 1960's or 1970's. It is one of the finest paintings we have owned in over 30 years of selling art. It is too beautiful for words! A very nice example, half the size, sold for $6,600 in 2002..see Ask Art. We are putting this fabulous, original, authentic oil onsale for $4,500.xx from a value of $6,000.xx.
