This amazing angel-skin coral bead necklace is made from enormous 12 mm - 21 mm coral beads. The beads are a pale off-white color with lots of touches of blush. This is the finest Mediterranean coral to be found. It was purchased in the 1980's from the gift jewelry store at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii. This magnificent hotel is known as the Pink Palace of the Pacific. This is where this fabulous Peau d' Ange' (Angel-Skin) coral was found a long time ago. The coral is 117 grams in weight & is 19 inches long. On each side, and on either side of the enormous 21 mm center bead are 2-17 mm, 3-16 mm, 2-15 mm, 3-14 mm, & 5-12 mm, beads. These are the size of angel-skin beads just not found anymore. They would have been a scarce commodity even a long time ago, especially the 21 mm center bead. Coral is becoming increasingly valuable. Indexes in Italy list angel-skin coral at $280/$300 per gram, which would make value of this coral at least $32,760!! This necklace was major expensive even in 1980's. The coral is very very shiny and has only barely noticeable blemishes. The gold clasp is still holding tight as it was seldom worn. However, I think whomever buys this coral should have it re-hand-knotted, & put on a better clasp, before it is worn. This is a rare, valuable, and very beautiful angel-skin necklace. These are really big & beautiful coral beads. I think retail value would be at least $5,500.xx.
