We are very proud to offer an original oil on canvas by Texas Artist Jesse Don Rasberry. The oil is 9 inches x 12 inches, & is signed ll. This painting is too beautiful for words! The subject is a cloudy day with Texas hills in the background & wonderful bluebonnets in foreground. The very pretty bluebonnets are painted in a VERY thick "3-D" impasto style. This painting & frame are pristine. The framing job was very expensive with the recessed brads in each corner. Jesse Don Rasberry was born on Nov. 10, 1940 in rural Oklahoma. Right after he was born, his family moved to Palm Springs, California. But, then, they moved to Lodi, in San Joaquin County- Grape area of Calif. They lived there while he grew-up. Rasberry loved Art even as a young child. He loved the great beauty of the San Joaquin River Delta. In High School, he took drafting , drawing, & wood-working. After high school, he embarked on a career in general contracting & home building. In 1979, Rasberry moved to Texas & in 1980 began a new career as a decorative & fine Arts dealer. The art he sold inspired him to become an artist himself. He was 40 years old when he started to paint, his subjects being primarily Texas or California. Essentially self-taught, he did receive some instruction from the late Bill Warden. He was also inspired by important Texas artists : Frank Reaugh, Olin H. Travis, Robert Wood, & the legendary Porfirio Salinas & Julian Onderdonk. He was also inspired by Calif. Impressionist Maurice Braun. Rasberry favors the latter impressionistic style & paints mainly in oils. His favorite compositions capture intense light & ever-present wild-flowers of Texas & Calif. At present, Rasberry lives with his wife Kala & son Lonny Ray in Northern Calif. Although he is 71 years old, he is still actively painting beautiful pictures! Our example could not be prettier & we think its Gallery value would be $1,200.xx.
