These unusual earrings have that quality of making the best of lean times. The fruit is made of very light, porous and fragile material that has been shaped and painted. There is some wear and tear on the fruit. The straw is woven very skillfully . The backing is clear lucite back that shows up on Haskell unsigned pieces from this era and before. The clincher is the clip backs that has the tell tale half moon shape that is pictured on page 80 of Cathy Gordon's classic on Miriam Haskell's jewelry. It is amazing that after 75 years they are still in one piece! A little slice of Carmen Miranda style that was so popular in the 40's. If you are a big Miriam Haskell fan this would be a great piece to add to your collection as it is incredibly rare.
