I will include the appraisal that I had done on this necklace because the green stones looked so real I thought they might be emeralds and had to check with a gemologist. The Harold Weinstein Company ( Accredited by the American Gem Society) informed me of the following: One white color plated base metal and glass necklace. The 40cm long necklace (16") is composed of a row of bezel settings with a 8.70 x4.10 mm green faceted translucent glass each, and these are linked together with round links with a 3.20 mm round colorless foil back glass each. There are embossed stylized foliate designs on the back and sides of each link. There is an internal box catch. The necklace weighs 23.58 grams. Estimated replacement value 150.00. It is always good to have a replacement value certificate for insurance purposes and it cost 100.00 for such an evaluation. At the price I have listed you are getting it for free!
But the real star of this necklace is that it is an unsigned Jakob Bengel. Bengel started their factory making diecut watch chains using the same stamping designs that are stamped on the back of this chrome metal. As they still had this craft available they made use of it in the design. The geometric design of this necklace is iconic of Bengel's work and glass was one of his usual mediums.
