Antique French gilt bronze enamel portrait jewelry box

This is one of the nicest enamel jewelry boxes I have ever had the privilege of owning. This box is a nice size, measuring 6 1/2" long, 3" tall, and 4 1/4" wide at the widest point. It has a beautiful enamel portrait of a woman facing to the left, wearing a red outfit. There is incredible realism in her face, eyes, nose and mouth. A cobalt blue enamel edge trims the outside of the box. The metalwork has beautiful detailing all around. The portrait is artist initialed EM. The box is marked France. It dates to the late 1800's. Interior lining is good with some spotting and stains. The claps does not latch. Otherwise, this box is in good condition with no noted damages or repairs.
