English pointer dog bronze Alfred Dubucand French sculptor
Here is a great bronze of an English pointer. This piece measures 6" long, 3 5/8" tall and 2" wide. It has outstanding detail and patina. The setter is pointing his nose slightly to the his right, his right leg bend and held slightly up in the air. This bronze is signed Dubucand (Alfred Dubucand, French, 1828-1894). The detail and realistic nature of the body shape and stance is amazing. Many of these sculptors from this period obtained a strong knowledge of anatomy and were able to produce such realistic sculptures. The signature is on left front of the sculpture. The back of the sculpture is marked France EV. This piece is in good condition with no noted damages or repairs.
