This pressed paper pulp (paper mache) hen on her nest started life as an Easter candy container. The base is marked with a paper tag: DRAKE PROCESS Patented May 29 1919 Copyright 1924 - F. N. Burt Company, Ltd. BUFFALO. N.Y. She is in very good original painted condition with metal bead eyes (one protrudes a little but is firmly attached). 7 inches long, 6.5 high, 4.5 wide. Her beak is nicked on the front and there is another small nick near her left eye and at the top seam of her head. The nest has a dent on one side and some bits scraped off on the other side. There is a little wear to the upper edge of the nest from having the top put on and off. It contains what I assume is the original grass. The egg is pictured to show scale and is not included. She is a beauty and makes a wonderful Easter decoration.
