Ethiopian Medicine Stick Necklace
This necklace is a collection of pieces older than most of us. The Ethiopian Medicine Stick has many holes in it that were probably used by healers to hold herbs or incense. It's color is a natural sand color with darker etched symbols. But it is not the oldest piece on this necklace. The large clay bead brushed with gold, wrapped in leather and featuring a carved figure has probably seen many trips along the Silk Road. And the embossed clay bead atop the Medicine Stick lived a storied life on other continents. Other features are a Tibetan coin domed and wrapped in brass. A brass charm with Tibetan writing on it. I have adorned these treasures with amber, raw garnet, aged stone ceramic beads from an artist on the Isle of Skye. a long wood bead, prehnite and black suede and cream color Irish linen cord. The Medicine Stick pendant and hangings are 4" wide and 5" in length. The large black chain is 20". One of a kind. One only.
