Nice Original Pastel Drawing of Singer Maggie Griffith (from the Arthur Smith Show).
Very nice original pastel drawing of Maggie Griffith signed G Blouin. The picture was purchased form a local estate, and has an interesting provenance. Maggie Griffiths was a singer on the very popular Arthur Smith Show during the 1970's. Arthur Smith was a native of South Carolina who created, produced and marketed the first Country Music oriented television show in the country to be syndicated nationally. Shows were produced from his studios in Columbia, and "The Arthur Smith Show" ran for an unbroken span of 32 years. Smith worked with many talented musicians from local talented artists to international stars to produce this iconic series. Griffiths was a popular singer on the show during the 70's, today she lives in the Lake Marion area. The picture was drawn during her heyday as a singer, it is very well executed and has a strong presence. The picture has been beautifully professionally framed in a gilt bamboo frame with textured old gold mat, the effect is very mid century/retro. The picture is in good estate order, there is slight crumpling to the paper on one corner, presumably it came from a portfolio. Framed size is approx 22" by 19".
