Rarest of Rare Victorian Velvet Fan Box
Absolutely beautiful rare Victorian velvet fan storage box with pleated silk interior and lid decoration depicting a closed fan. This lovely box measures 13" long by 3" tall by 3 1/4" deep, and is all original. The box is covered with soft gold velvet, which shows expected age wear, but has no tears or significant damage. The beautiful top of the box has a pressed metal depiction of a fan lying closed on top of a torch and a long bow, and lovely original handle. The interior of the box is lined in pleated silk, this has a couple of small fine marks (perhaps from a pen) but these are fairly negligible, and the box shows beautifully. Very rare, this would be wonderful storage for a special fan, or for display with an early fan collection.
