Fun Old Circa 1930's Three Terrier Match Box Holder Striker
Fun "three terriers" match box holder with strikers, made from a molded material that resembles carved wood, in a brown, black and cream finish. the dogs are very well detailed with real charm, and are framed by a little dog collar. The back has a box section for holding the match box, and two ridged panels for striking the matches. Although unmarked this is probably SYROCO, a dense hard material made by the Syracuse Ornamental Company from the 1930's to the 50's, which was used for all sorts of fun decorative/utilitarian items. The holder measures 4 1/2" tall by 5" wide and 1 3/4" deep, and is in overall good condition with some minor surface wear on the high points, and some very minor chipping on the reverse. Great display piece which is still sturdy enough for use.
