Hand Carved Walnut Black Forest 1930's Cigarette Box
Really beautiful Black Forest Walnut carved cigarette box, with slightly rounded Deco influenced form, and deeply carved floral decoration to the lid. The box is of densely grained walnut, with a hinge that is entirely enclosed in wood, all very elegant and beautifully made, see photos for details. The box measures 7 3/4" by 5", and is in excellent estate order with no damage. The interior originally had a central divider, this is gone, though the slots are there, and it would be easy enough to replace if you wanted. The photo shows a couple of tiny areas of slight discoloration on the lid, since photographing I have given the box a light bees wax polish which pretty much eliminated these entirely, it also brought the color of the wood back up, and it displays even more beautifully.
