Unusual and beautiful hand painted early 20th Century charger or wall platter carrying the French Limoges back-stamp "Old Abbey". The charger shows a detailed seascape with boats and shoreline buildings including a lighthouse, highly observed the quality of the painting is excellent. I believe the back stamps Limoges, France and Old Abbey Limoges Hand Painted (Mark 3), date the platter to ca 1908 – 1913. The company specialized in high quality ornately painted decorative porcelain, and this is a wonderful example with an unusual theme, a nice change from the normal floral chargers. The platter is designed to hang, it has a small thread hole in the back rim, and measures a nice large 10" diameter. The platter is initialed to the front, I think L V Y though the letters are not very clear, see photos. In excellent estate order with no chips, cracks or other damage, this is a beautiful platter to hang as an example of Limoges fine porcelain artwork or add to a collection.
