Wonderful old silver plated bride's basket with central pedestal and deeply indented repousse swirling vine pattern around the rim. The handle is patterned with a neoclassical knot design, and the whole effect is very elegant and expensive - I originally thought it might be sterling the quality is so good. The basket is in excellent estate condition, with just very minor plate wear (a few pinhead pits in the center of the bowl), the blue color in the photos is reflection from my bohemian lamp. It is marked on the pedestal with a small g (possibly Gorham?) and EPNS (electro plated nickle silver). Basket measures approx 8" wide by * 1/2" to top of handle.
Brides baskets are an ideal way to serve bread and pastries, they are also perfect for use as a centerpiece, and this would be perfect either on a side buffet or as the highlight of a fully set table.
