Super Vintage Toy Hat, Velvet and Feather!
Super vintage perch or "toy" hat of brown velvet, the top is entirely covered in soft beautiful layers of feathers, which then have a fine silk net overlay. The hat dates to around the late 40's, condition is good for the age, there are a couple of small breaks in the netting, but overall the hat is sturdy displays well. Inner band is 17", this is designed to sit at an angle, not down on the head. The hat a grosgrain band that finishes in a bow, the rim sweeps up slightly to the sides to give a bold profile, it is a little like the glamorous riding hats worn by Victorian ladies, it is very sweet and slightly saucy, and would be fun to wear.
