Lovely small leather photo album, with highly tooled leather covers finished with gilding. The album measures 5 1/2" tall by 4 1/4" wide by 2" thick, it has an ornate locking brass clasp and is highly decorative, with gilt page edges. The album has very slight cracking through the spine, but this is very minor and should be fine if handled with care - see photos. The album pages feature the early all rectangular gold edged arched openings and dates to around the Civil War period (1860's). The pages are fairly clean, and turn OK, there is some very old pencil notation which could easily be erased if you wished, slight tearing and foxing. The front end papers are present and so is the index. Lovely older Album perfect for housing a collection, these early and highly ornate small albums are hard to find, this is a lovely one and should last for decades if handled with appropriate care. See photos as part of the description, I have other antique albums from the same estate that I am listing.
