Stunning Antique Hand Stitched Calico Quilt, Lovely Fabrics!
Lovely antique hand stitched calico quilt, with a wonderful selection of fabrics in rich colors. The quilt dates to around the end of last century, and though beautiful has some age related issues. A couple of blocks have fabrics that show fading, fraying or have partially failed - see photos, because of the density of the quilting and the small size of the quilting pieces this does not represent a significant structural issue, and the quilt can quite safely be displayed or lightly use. Despite these issues the quilt displays wonderfully, the colors are stunning, and the calicoes rich and varied in design. The quilt measures approx 74" by 70", it is backed in piecemeal floral fabrics, it is a true homestead quilt, slightly primitive and very attractive, it would be fabulous displayed on a rack or on a traditional bedstead.
