A beautifully painted cylinder ring vase made by Mt. Washington Glass of New Bedford, Mass., and painted by the Smith Brothers who decorated for the company. Probably dating between 1875 & 1885, the vase is unmarked, it has a wagon wheel base, painted egret in rushes, with a background in soft pink with rings in white with gilt trim. The vase is approx 6 1/2" with a diameter of 2 1/2"", it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage, there is one small flake to the enamelling on the birds wing, which is virtually invisible as it is white on white, and very slight wear to the gilding. A desirable and typical example of the Mt.Washington & Smith Bros. collaboration, a conical version is displayed in "American Art Glass", Shuman, 2nd Edition.
