From an estate of very early clothing that I will be listing in the next few weeks, an early calico prairie bonnet in coarse weave drab colors. The bonnet is both machine and hand stitched, it is fairly primitive, sturdy and in good overall estate order with some fairly minor staining and wear to the fabric. Judging from the age of the estate and the fabric I would estimate it dates to the to the later 1800's. Very loose and baggy, this would fit any head, it was designed to protect from the sun, and is still very functional. Great bonnet for re-enactors, nice traditional bonnet to add to a collection.
