This looks like a hat from the Titanic, very Edwardian Revival, a confection of whipped net chiffon in soft beige finished with a small velvet bow, that perches on the head and gives a lovely soft profile. The hat is constructed on a woven coiled fabric base with the inner brim covered in self colored silk or fine satinized cotton, the net covering the crown is an early synthetic, but looks like a fine silk mesh. The hat measures approx 21" round the inner band, though this is fairly flexible as it sits up slightly, it carries the Dolly Madison label. The hat shows age deterioration to the silky fabric on in the inner brim, the net has also faded slightly and has some very slight breakages at the very crown, but it displays beautifully when worn, and is unusual and attractive.
