Beautiful Jemco Tooled Arts and Crafts Bag, Pristine!
Beautiful Arts and Crafts highest quality tooled leather purse circa 1910 with frame by Jemco and leather body by Bosco. The purse is in deep brown leather, with lovely tooled Art Nouveau flowers & patterns. Single handle strap for carrying, with whip stitching of leather cord to the handle and sides of the purse, the stitching on the strap is in very good order with no fraying or missing stitches (which is rare). The purse has a metal frame with silver tone finish, which has worn back to the underlying metal (I think originally brass, but the metal has darkened patina). The snap closure has a loop pull inscribed with the words "Turn Loc", the main maker of the high quality sturdy clasps that were typical of these bags, while the frame is signed Jemco. The purse opens to suede leather liner with integral change pocket, this is in excellent condition with no damage, slight age appropriate wear and darkening, signed Bosco Built. The purse measures 8" at its widest point and 6 3/4" from snap closure to purse bottom. This is probably the best of these purses I have ever had, with wonderful period design, and in excellent condition for the age, it is very sturdy and it displays beautifully.
