Taxco Mexico Sterling Metales Serpent Dragon Quetzalcoatl " Bolo Tie" 1950's Inlaid Lapis Turquoise
This awesome signed stunning bolo tie piece of Taxco silver craft is a Quetzalcoatl /Serpent / Dragon of silver and brass surrounded by inlaid Lapis and Turquoise. Has an Eagle mark 3 Metales in script, Hencho in Mexico in a circle, Taxco in a circle with initials HC and looks like RESA. The signature is not complete, as the tie holder has been soldered on the "V" portion of his name. Probably made by LOS CASTILLO The piece has no information about metal or purity; testing reveals it is coin silver or greater, and likely sterling as the quality of the metals used in Taxco during the 1940's and '50's was 925 or higher. The image on the design is interesting. Other metals are used in conjunction with the turquoise and Lapis inlay. Although this was created as a bolo for a tie, one could adapt it to a lady's pendant, with a little help from a jeweler. The bolo clip slide is 2" wide and a little over 1-1/4" high. Measures 40" in length 20" when folded for the bolo. A great piece of high Mexican craftmanship from the 1950's.
