Vintage Du Jay Sterling Silver Penguin Figural Realistic Faux Belly Enamel Rhinestone Pin Brooch
This very cute little Penguin has a Patent of June 27,1939 design number 115,402 by J.Hirsh. J. Hirsh and J.H. Leff worked together creating beautiful sterling costume jewelry at Du Jay during the second world war. The brooch has a rhinestone bow tie and done in a back enamel. Has a big faux pearl belly with legs and flippers done in rhinestones. Weighs 14.5 14.5 grams and measures 1-3/8 inches long and 1 inch wide. Signed sterling on his back and jewelers marks SOF with a check mark through the O. Has some slight enamel loss a small bit on one flipper, on the beak and around the eyes. The enamel loss is so small you can not see it unless using a loop. All rhinestones are original and bright. The pearl belly has some fine scratches. The pin works well and is in great working order. Over all common wear for costume jewelry. The penguin was made in the times of Trifari and its Jelly Belly's and other fine costume companies like Coro Craft, Weiss, Eisenberg, Schiaparelli and Sandor. This pin comes from a collection of 400 pieces of costume jewelry offered only on Ruby Lane.
