Authentic Edwardian Muff or Hand Warmer in Rare Museum Perfect Condition. Circa 1910, Hand Sewn from Silk Velvet and Satin, Filled with Goose Down, Trimmed with Braided Silk Cord

This is one of the most beautiful examples of an Edwardian era muff that The Gilded Griffin has had the pleasure to offer.

Large, luxurious and entirely charming, the muff or handwarmer is made from silk velvet and entirely lined with ruffled satin.

Even a casual admirer will find it difficult to put this muff down. It is incredibly soft due to the richness of the outer black silk velvet covering. Then, it is filled with cozy, warm goose down and entirely lined with luxurious silk satin.

The openings for the hands at both ends are beautifully detailed with many rows of hand stitched ruching and the muff's edges are beautifully edged with tiny boxed pleating.

The muff's opening is designed towards the top of pillowy design. Therefore, the hands may nestle into the warmth of the down inside when the fashionable owner is seated.

The condition is absolutely perfect. This muff is incredibly strong and appears to have never been used. In fact, it appears as though it was carefully stored away in perfect conditions ever since the day it was finished by the obviously talented seamstress who created it.

This muff is a very rare find in such a beautiful condition. It will be adored by discerning collectors and cherished by anyone who adores antique clothing and textiles.

This exquisite silk and goose down Edwardian era muff is dated to circa 1910 and measures approximately 15 inches or 38 cm in length and approximately 13 inches or 33 cm in width.
