This is an sumptuous French Lederer handbag circa late 1950's and shaped like a small doctors bag ~ a 'petite doctor's bag'. Lederer de Paris is a premium design house specializing in luxurious, exotic-skin handbags since 1898, their handbags are highly collectible and considered great investment pieces.
This stunning handbag has exquisite craftsmanship and design. It is made of superbly fine Porosus crocodile skin, the scales even and small. The only area where the scales are larger is on the base. The glossy jet black skins are beautifully complimented by shiny gold studded hardware accenting the handle and frame.
I love the rounded shape and the superb design touches such as the little tag accents used to pull the opening apart. It has a French style push button top clasp and two rectangular gold metal feet on the bottom.
The interior is lined with buttery soft black kid leather and features three slip pockets and one snap pocket. "Made in France Especially For Lederer" is embossed on the interior.
This fine handbag is in excellent vintage condition. The skins are soft and supple with only the tiniest signs of wear and the handle is perfect. The gold hardware shows very slight wear on the clasp. The interior is in wonderful condition.
Approximate measurements are : 8 3/4 inches wide; 6 1/2 inches high; 4 1/2 inches wide; 4 inch handle drop.
The ultimate in vintage couture and a must for serious collectors this absolutely gorgeous circa 1950's-60's petite vintage Lederer de Paris.
