French Leather Match Safe/Striker/Vesta with Classic Sculpted Lady Plaque

FRENCH LEATHER ETUI/MATCH SAFE/STRIKER/VISTA appears to have its original sand-paper striker with an area behind the striker for the matches, The opposite side probably held the smaller size 2" cigarettes/cigars of that time period. The leather is encased in brass. The Classic French Lady plaque has the appearance of sterling but is not marked. It is hard to believe this case dates back to the 1800s as the leather is in excellent condition. Overall, this little etui has aged very well. There is some wear as you can see to the red silk lining. Striker appears to be original.

A friend who worked as an entertainer on the cruise ship lines purchased this little case for me in St. Petersburg, Russia, many years ago.

Holder/Case measures 2-5/8" long, 1-1/2" wide and 3/4" deep.

Very Good Vintage Condition.

Circa: pre-1880

Item ID: O189
