Blond Tortoise & Sterling Pique Card Case/Purse/Box

CARD CASE - Rare Translucent Blond Tortoise & Sterling Pique Card Case/Purse/Box has an initialed cartouche and intricate Pique work. Tortoise is considered the first plastic because the Victorians molded it and used it as we do plastics today. Rarely was the turtle killed. The tortoise was harvested by pealing off a layer of the turtle's underbelly then tossing the turtle back into the water to grow it back.

Purchased for me many years ago by a friend on a trip to Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Measures 3-1/3" long by 2-1/3" wide - 3/4" deep. Weighs 24.9 grams.
