Atlas Mason Fruit Jar with 1858 Patent

This is a wonderful green glass fruit jar with John Mason's patent date of Nov. 30th 1858 embossed lettering. It is an Atlas jar complete with a zinc screw lid with a "Boyd"s" porcelain insert. The patent date was used by most manufacturers until about 1920. This jar also has a seam indicating it is a machine made jar. Those combined features (patent date & seam) indicate a manufacturing date circa 1890-1920. Glass is in great shape with some bubbles and rim is smooth enough to run your finger around it. With lid the jar stands about 9" high and it's base has a diameter of 4 1/4". One of the nicest we've seen and a must have for any collection.
