These unique earrings are made with a beautiful blue lapis lazuli bead that is flecked with gold and topped with a blue glass tulip and a small lapis bead. It drops 1 1/2" from an intricate 18k gold vermeil post that curls around the bottom of the ear and is 1/2" wide.
Flecked with the gold of pyrite or calcite white, lapis was a favorite for jewelry of the ancient Egyptians. Since ancient times it has been used to make the artists' pigment ultramarine blue by grinding the stone into a fine powder. It is believed to be a calming stone.
