Carnelian Bat Drop Earrings

These beautifully carved red orange carnelian bats drop 1 3/8" from 18k gold vermeil posts with Chinese script on them.

The bat is an emblem of happiness, good fortune, prosperity and longevity. When something is depicted upside down it means it has arrived, so the common depiction of an upside-down bat symbolizes good fortune has arrived. It is one of the best symbols of good luck. (a very fortuitous sign.) Two bats together means double good fortune.
