Mammoth Ivory Stork, Enhanced Coral Necklace
This necklace is made with a piece of mammoth ivory that has been intricately carved in the shape of a stork under a large leave. The carving shows his feathers beak and black beady eyes. I have beaded it with a double strand of enhanced and natural coral and finished it with a 18k gold vermeil clasp.
The stork is 2"long by 1" wide, and the necklace is 19 1/2" long.
The stork is symbolic of longevity. The stork is believed to live 1,000 years and is therefore a symbol of longevity. Coral is formed from the shells and skeletons of sea animals.
Mammoth Ivory comes from the extinct mammoth elephant that roamed the Earth during the Pliocene era from around 4.8 million to 4,500 years ago. Because they are extinct they are not endangered and therefore, are legal and save the African elephant. The artisans that carved elephant ivory are now carving mammoth ivory that is recovered in Siberia.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: red and white, Size: 19 1/2"
