This is a wonderful vintage, hand made, ribbon art paper doll in its original metal frame. It is probably from the 20s or 30s, as the frame has a very Art Deco design. This ribbon art is not actually done with ribbon, it is done with the petals of a silk or satin flower. It is decorated all over with what look like the stamen of the flower. These are made of a piece of thread with a charcoal colored ball of glitter at the end. The petals are pale pin (they are actually more pink than they appear in the picture). The paper doll has a bouffant hair style and has a rosette at her ear. There are also 2 rosettes at her waist. The background is a textured black satin fabric. The frame is gold a black metal.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has discolored with age. It has the original cardboard back on it. It has a piece of tape at the top that is very old (I am not sure what purpose this piece of tape serves). Also, there is a hole at the top of the cardboard, probably where the wall hanger was. This hole goes through the black fabric, but barely shows from the front at the very top of the frame. The picture measures (including frame) 9 x 11 inches.
