Burgess & Leigh Teheran polychrome serving platter

This pretty, brightly-colored polychrome platter is by Burgess & Leigh. This pattern is called Teheran, but is very similar to several other contemporary patterns, including Minton's Delft, which was produced primarily in blue and white. Tehran is a pretty pastel color scheme, with am art nouveau floral border and a center floral-in-urn design on stoneware.

Maker and age: The mark was used by Burgess and Leigh 1862 - 1890, but this piece is most likely 1880s, when it's blue and white contemporaries were first produced.

Condition: Very good. No chips or cracks and very little wear to the polychrome. There are some scratches, staining and crazing.

Size: The platter is 18 x 14 x 1 1/4" tall, big enough for a small turkey.

This pretty, very usable polychrome serving platter would make a nice addition to your dinner table or antique display.
