West Texas Champ Watercolor by listed artist Lorenzo Castaneda

This beautifully detailed watercolor features two cowboys and their horses as one cowboy takes the leap to wrestle a steer to the ground. In the background is the hint of two cowboys watching the action. The steer looks like it has almost given up trying to get away, the cowboy determined to catch him, his spotter keeping an eye on the steer, the horses powerful as they gallop along. Lorenzo Castaneda does an amazing job of catching a still view that still expressed the action of this rodeo scene that moves very quickly.

The painting is signed and dated by the artist.

The self-taught San Antonio artist (originally from San Angelo, Texas) often features western and rodeo scenes and subjects and uses brilliant colors.

Size: 27" x 17" framed, 13" x 10" viewable. It has a simple frame, but there is an unexplained chip in the glass at the top, along the edge.
