Clarendon Flow Blue Soup Bowl by Henry Alcock, 1890s

This near flawless 1890s flow blue soup bowl is in the Clarendon pattern by Henry Alcock, a premier English china manufacturer. The art nouveau pattern is both floral and beautifully geometric, featuring a heart shape design that dances around the rim of the bowl, forming small cartouches with a flower center.

The bowl is a heavy ironstone with a bright cobalt flow blue color and has no cracks or chips. It measures 10 1/4" across. There are a few utensil marks and one small nick on the rim (see the closeup photo) which is either very old or a glaze pit/stilt mark from the firing process. It would make a beautiful addition to your collection or wall display.
